What I do
Senior technology leadership, embedded in your business for as long as you need it. Alongside your CTO, or in place of one you do not have yet.
I sit in your leadership team, or beside the CTO who already does, and make the calls a CTO makes: product, infrastructure, software, change, security, data and AI. You get twenty years of board-level experience at the fraction you actually need.
Who this is for
Scale-ups
Investors want a technology leader in the room. You are not ready for a £150k to £200k hire and the equity that comes with it.
Established organisations
Programmes drift, suppliers run rings round you, and nobody can translate the roadmap into money.
In-flight change
A replatform, a recovery, a merger: senior oversight for the duration, then a clean handover.
Sitting CTOs
A second pair of senior eyes on the architecture, the board paper or the supplier, from someone with no interest in your chair.
The room behind the door
Walk through the door and this is the room you are standing in. Every product in it, whichever you choose, draws on all 8. The pillars do not change; what you buy does. Move over one to see what it means in practice.
Pillar 01 of 08
Turning what the business wants into a roadmap engineers can build and customers will pay for. Prioritisation, discovery, and saying no to the right things.
Pillar 02 of 08
Cloud, hosting, networks and the bills behind them. Resilient, right-sized and understood by someone other than the one person who set it up.
Pillar 03 of 08
Engineering practice, architecture and delivery rhythm. The difference between a team that ships and a team that is always nearly done.
Pillar 04 of 08
Technology change is people change. Sequencing, communication and the adoption work that most programmes forget to budget for.
Pillar 05 of 08
Proportionate security and the certifications your customers ask about: Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001 readiness, supplier assurance.
Pillar 06 of 08
One trusted version of the numbers. Data platforms, governance and the reporting the board actually reads.
Pillar 07 of 08
Where AI genuinely earns its place in your operation, built in safely, and where it is just expensive noise.
Pillar 08 of 08
Team shape, hiring, culture and holding the room at board level. The technology is the easy half; the people are the job.
What you can buy in this room
Each one stands on the pillars above. Move over a product to see who it is for, what you get, how we engage and how long it takes.
Product 1 of 6
Senior technology leadership in your leadership team, part time.
Product 2 of 6
The target architecture and the roadmap to reach it.
Product 3 of 6
How technology should be organised to deliver the strategy.
Product 4 of 6
Buy-side or sell-side technology diligence for PE and M&A.
Product 5 of 6
Getting the technology estate investor-grade before a raise or an exit.
Product 6 of 6
Independent oversight, or a steady hand on a programme that has drifted.
Every product here is a starting shape. The scope, the duration and the way we engage flex to your environment; the deliverables stay defined. Tell me where it does not fit and I will shape it, or tell you plainly that something else would serve you better.
Questions
A fractional CTO is a senior technology leader who works with your organisation part time, on a retainer or a fixed block of days, instead of joining as a full-time hire. You get the strategy, architecture, delivery oversight and board-level translation of a CTO without the cost of a permanent executive.
Usually when technology has outgrown the team that built it, ahead of a raise, a sale or a major programme, when a CTO has left, or when the board needs someone to tell it plainly what is happening. If the role is still being defined, a fractional CTO is often the quickest way to define it.
The Embedded Fractional CTO starts from £2.8k a month on a three-month minimum. Defined projects such as Technology Due Diligence, Scale-to-Sell Readiness and Enterprise Architecture Design start from £6.5k. Every product on this page has a stated scope and duration, and the price is confirmed on a call.
You work with me directly, not with a pyramid of juniors. The products are defined, so you know the scope, the duration and the starting price before anything begins, and everything is explained in plain language so your board and your team can act on it.
Yes. My background is twenty years leading IT, data, software, product and change in regulated, high-pressure environments, and I work with UK organisations in that setting.
Book a thirty minute call to talk through what you are trying to achieve. It is online, with no pitch deck, and you will leave knowing which product fits, or that none does yet.
Not sure this is the right door?
Tell me where the technology is hurting and I will tell you whether a fractional CTO is the answer, or whether a coach or a strategy piece would serve you better.
