How I work
Six principles I hold to whichever door you come through, four ways to engage me, and the three steps between a first call and a delivered outcome. No methodology deck. This is the whole method.
The drawing habit
Clients single this out. Every engagement gets drawn before it gets written: the problem on one side, the clear version on the other, and the arrow between them. Boards get the drawing, not the deck. The little drawings around this site are the same habit. They are how I translate.
Principles
01
I fall in love with the problem first. No tech talk until we are clear on the business intent. Who is this for? What matters most? How will success actually feel? Get that right and the technology choices become obvious.
02
Plain language, not jargon. I centre the real people who will use, shape or be affected by the work. When the human element is left behind, delivery slows, trust erodes and the best ideas lose momentum.
03
I build capability, confidence and understanding that remain when I am gone. The goal is never dependency. It is empowerment, and it is why the engagements end on time.
04
Whether it is leadership alignment, team rhythm or personal development, I build the energy and help others step into it too. Momentum is a team sport.
05
From boardrooms to backlogs, I help people act with clarity. Mentoring, constructive challenge and shared belief, so decisions get made and stay made.
06
I build others up so that decisions and behaviours continue without me in the room. If you need me forever, I have done it wrong.
Time, flexibility and fit
In the way that actually works for your stage, your team and your pace. Every product names which of these it uses.
Check-ins, reviews, coaching sessions, or the call you need to make on a Tuesday night when something has gone wrong.
Regular engagement, strategy workshops, board preparation, project oversight.
A monthly package of hours or days you can flex. Most fractional and coaching work runs this way.
Interim CTO or senior adviser inside the organisation when continuity matters: a programme, a recovery, a transition.
From first call to outcome
Step 1
Tell me what you are trying to achieve. No pitch deck, no pressure. Thirty minutes on where you are and where you need to be.
Step 2
Fractional CTO, coach or AI strategy. Inside it, a defined product: you see exactly what is included, how we engage and how long it takes, with the price in your proposal. Proposal in your portal within days.
Step 3
Named deliverables, on time, and the understanding to carry them on without me. Proposals already live in your portal; project status and deliverables are joining them.
Ready when you are
Thirty minutes. I listen, I draw it back to you, and we agree whether there is something worth doing. If there is not, I will say so.
